Our Story
Mr . K.B Iddawela (son of Mr. and Mrs. M.B Iddawela and G. Iddawela) was born in December 31st 1960 in Kandy. He grew up with three sisters and three brothers. K. B Iddawela was a mechanic who fixed and modified cars as a hobby. As a child K. B Iddawela preferred doing things by himself. When he was 26 years old he moved to Colombo and got to know that Colombo is the center for trading. After that, in 1985 he joined one of the largest industries as a Marketing Executive then prevailed in Sri Lanka.
After few years, he married Miss M. P Ranaweera and later became a father of two children. In 1994, he started selling electronic scales along with the service station which later became a partnership business with the joining of one of his friends but unfortunately it did not come a success. Failing three times in one row he did not give up the effort. With all the ups and downs he decided to start the business with a new concept of electronic digital scales. The business started under the brand name of ‘ Fashion’. By sheer hard work and the encouragement given by the directors of the department of weights and measures of Sri Lanka, Mr. Iddawela received approval for one model price computing scale under the brand name ‘Fashion’. (The model being FPS 905). In not less than two months Mr K.B Iddawela was capable of selling around 300 pieces of scales proving how talented he was. If not for the support of his wife he wouldn’t have come to this position. In June 2006 the company was made a limited liability company adding trust value and strength as a slogan. As time went Fashion Holdings realized that the weighing scale is the most important supporting part of the retail business.
Fashion Holdings also developed software systems and provided all necessary services to the customers spread all over the island. Further the island wide dealer network speaks well of the strength of Fashion Holdings. In accordance with the approved industry norms Fashion Holdings have been able to introduce new ranges after research to suit individual needs. Fashion Holdings scintillated as the number one Weighing Scale Company in 2010. Further the company is concerned and sensitive to the quality of the product ranges that it introduces from time to time. Fashion is capable of changing the technology to suit the demand of the customers. This is the main reason for the Fashion to be number ONE scale provider in the whole of Sri Lanka. By maintaining and improving high quality standard product ranges Fashion were able to offer its customers faultless products.
What is more important about Fashion is their services rendered to customers with the least delay. While the business was running Mr. Iddawela’s eldest son Panduka Iddawela graduated his Business Management Degree from the University of Northhampton, UK and a Small Business Enterprise specialized degree in New Zealand. During that period Himath Iddawela worked with his father. In 2016 Panduka Iddawela returned from New Zealand and supported his father’s business. After the passing away of the Mr. K.B Iddawela in the year 2016 3rd of November the company went into the hands of his two sons Mr. Panduka iddawela and Himath Iddawela. We are very proud today that the second generation of Mr. K.B Iddawela has successfully involved in running the business with the highest market share. The present Board of Directors consist of:
